the middle man December 30, 2006

i have a problem with being the middle man. and here in scotland, they seem to LOVE using the “middle man” way of doing things.

my job, for instance, is all about being the middle man. it drives me crazy because if you simply ELMINATE the middle man, it would make things so much better. but no. they use the middle man. they even use several middle men. how rediculous?!

another example i encountered today. the hostel is making everyone buy a hogmenay street pass in order to save their bed. i wasn’t going to buy one because i already have one. i TOLD them i already have one, so why should i buy another one? and they said it’s just the way they are doing things. then they told me lots of people are still looking for party passes, so i could easily sell it to someone, and probably even sell it for more money so i’d make a few quid. but my question now is, why don’t THEY just sell the extra ones and make some money for the hostel?!? does this make ANY SENSE?? gah. now i have to worry about selling a stupid ticket that i shouldnt have had to buy in the first place.

sometimes i just dont understand peoples logic.

anyway. right now i am feeling very heavy. like, tired and full heavy. why? because i stayed up late again last night so i slept until 2pm today and then i went to the store, braving the crowds of people, and then i came back and ate a HUGE plate of totellini and now i’m incredibly full and satisfied, and maybe a tad bit lethargic.

and even though i feel this way, i’m still mad i had to buy a party pass because i think it’s just stupid.

well anyway. hopefully the street party will be worth it and won’t shut down. (i heard rumors that it might be shut down due to HIGH WINDS. seriously. wind. these people are c.r.a.z.y.)

well that’s all i have for now folks. and honestly, i thought the videos and pictures would bring in a lot more comments. i’m dissapointed. pah.

Kate,
We have been computer-less for the past six days, unable to view the blog, due to our annual trip south and your brother’s need to use our computer to edit a music video he made for a band from Arizona. One of the first things we did when we got home last night was to hook up the computer (we had to take parts of it down south so Tom could complete his project) and look at your blog. It didn’t disappoint. The videos were funny, especially the brown sauce on the chip. Mom was laughing and we both felt satisfied to see that you had a good time on Christmas. You were in the front of our thoughts all week, and many many comments from all of the relatives down in LA indicated that they too are thinking of you.

Kate,
Ditto on what dad said in his comment. It was so good to speak to you on Christmas day – Brett even took your picture (the phone on the middle of the table!) But it just wasn’t the same without you here. It sure was great to see the pictures you took. You and Brianne looked like you were having quite a fun time. Now here’s a question: what is a hogmenay stree pass? Is it for some new year’s celebration? The brown sauce on a chip reminds me of ketchup on a french fry. What does it taste like? Brown? As in gravy? I will write more in an email. love, mom

Well Kate… they could’ve used our computer… we have your Rant listed on our bookmarks toolbar on our homepage so you are Quick to find……. Silly parents….
I enjoyed looking at the pictures again this morning ….I was the only one up at 6 a m ….crazy me but I just wake up. Any way it was great to see the huge amount of soup, b rown sauce and the chocolate, too. Are all the colorful bins in the kitchen set aside for all the people who stay there? I have never seen a hostle so it is interesting to see what it looks like.
Well, Happy New Year to you 2 and to alll your friends. Guess you be in 2007 way before we will!
Love, Aunt Annie
P.S. Did Kristin tell you she is moving to Portland? Wow, things are changing here!

Hey Kate. It’s true. Just as your Dad indicated, we did indicate we think of you often.
We miss your smiling face in the group photo (Not toooo much grumbling about taking it, but still some). And of course I miss the annual Cuzin Pic(I think I’m having trouble with my tense). I’d like to put a patchwork of pics of the cuzins together in order to keep the tradition going. I’ll email you as to what I need for a file. I enjoyed the universal reaction to being videoed spontaneouslyl: “Oh Nooo”.
Great pictures Kate and, oh yea, be sure to bring some of that brown sauce home, mmmmmm.
Take Care Kiddo, Hi to Brianne and Happy New Year to All.

HI Kate, I just logged on to my computer for the first time in about a week, too much going on in my head. Loved the info about the hostel, I had no idea how big this is. How many people stay there? Happy new year, missed you at Christmas, take care love aunt joaniel.

I think the one thing I enjoy most about reading what people wrote is what they made mistakes on. For example, Aunt Joanie put “love aunt joaniel.” That, for some odd reason, made me laugh out loud. Aunt Joaniel. I’m going to call her that one of these days…wait, I take it back. I’ll probably forget about it tomorrow. I’m not hating on anyone for misspelling words and making mistakes, because I do it all the time. It’s just funny to read things literally without correcting them.

Hey! I hope you had a wonderful New Year!!! I’m sure it was better than mine. I just sat around the cabin wondering what I’m going to do about rent. I miss you, and I’ll talk to you soon!

love,
Brother
