Kate’s Rants

i currently have too much to do. i took on a HUGE project at freeborn (painting the crew room) which is taking longer than i thought it would. meanwhile, i still have to pack before my parents come on sunday (um….. sure….) and organize my life to move to a different country. it’s crazy.

looking back, i should really have started the painting project wayyyy back in july. stupid me.

and packing…. well that should have been going on this whole week, but it was only going on for part of the week.

besides all that stuff, i’m trying to hang out with my friends as much as i can because it’s going to be a really long time before i see any of them again. the painting project is partly hanging out with freeborn friends, so that’s good. today i spent pretty much all day hanging out with rachelle, whom i havent talked to in too long. it was way fun. i miss rachelle.

basically i’m stressed because tomorrow is going to be very busy. i probably won’t sleep tomorrow night.

maybe i shouldnt sleep tonight…….

forget that, i’m tired. the end.

so after our yard sale everyone was gone, and brianne decided to bring the stuff back inside the garage. she was able to move everything in, except for the heavy dressers. since nobody else was there, she had to leave them outside. she put blankets over them and they were clearly not for sale. there were some boxes closer to the sidewalk labled “free” and also a couch that was free.

so we all woke up the next morning and went to work at various times, and we all saw the boxes and the dressers and the couch.

when we got back from work…. the dressers were GONE, blankets and all.

the funniest part of the story is that kristin, our roommate who we don’t really get along with all the time, left all her stuff for us to sell. so we tried sellling some of her stuff, but her dressers wouldnt sell because she had a fixed price at $40. (they really should have been priced at 15 or 10.) so anyway, nobody bought them at the yard sale. and then brianne couldn’t bring them inside because they were too heavy, and in the end, they got stolen.

i think its karma. justice. something like that.

the universe really knows what its doing.

however, those yard sale theives have got it coming. who steals ugly dressers out of someone’s front yard? really now.

we had our yard sale this morning. technically, it’s still going on. (we left our junk in the yard in case people come by and want it.) i did ok. i sold most of my big stuff that i had left: my tv stand, some storage containers, some clothes, some shoes. i also sold some random junk i had in my room: earrings (they were VERY popular, i sold them all!), random toys, some kitchen gear. i really wanted to get rid of most of the old kitchen stuff i had, but i guess everyone already has pots and pans.

i also sold my huge whiteboards and bulletin boards, so that was cool. everything else is just going to the thrift store.

my roommates still have furniture they want to sell, so they’re doing the yard sale again tomorrow. maybe some more of my clothes will sell. we’ll see.

in any case, i made 80 bucks for a bunch of junk i dont want anymore, so HORRAY! money for scotland, yeah!

also, my aunt sent me a card with 100 bucks and gave me explicit instructions on how i am to spend this money: 1) i have to get a picture with a scotsman in a kilt, and i have to find out if he’s wearing undies. 2) i can only spend it on fun and frivolty. 3) i have to send her a picture of me at loch ness.

i thought that was awesome. now i have assignments when i’m in scotland. i’m on a mission to find a guy in a kilt! (and i have to ask him if he’s wearing undies. haha.)

next step: pack up my room. ugh.

i fly away on september 5th. that’s in a month and 3 days!! yikes! i have tons to do still.

i need to:

-pack my room to MOVE
-make $500 to save for scotland
-buy my PLANE TICKET
-visit the rodriguez fam and the brothers.
-visit jen
-visit meghan?? (maybe once i’m in tracy????)
-get stuff ready for yard sale
-get letters of recommendation
-get resume together
-MOVE

i know there’s more stuff, but man i’m stressing out just thinking about it. crazy stuff! i still can’t believe i’m MOVING to scotland. weird. my life is going to be very different. but good different.

i’m really looking forward to the trip after the scotland work experience. i’m looking forward to the working thing too, but you know, it’s work. plus once that’s over i’m going to go to all these places that i’ve never been and it’s going to be such an awesome experience. AND i’ll get to see brad again. yay! going around europe with brad will be very fun and i’m already excited. heeeehee.

scotland. scotland. scotland. wow. i’ve gotta go start working on my list. (yeah right, it’s all about procrastination baby. i’m going to go watch mtv like the post-college student i am.)
